What joy to reunite with two returning teachers this morning. So great to wrap our arms and reconnect with Audrey and Ivy. And a beautiful morning moving and embracing our practice for the connections is gives us.

This summer we had a 70 Day Challenge for our memb

This summer we had a 70 Day Challenge for our members. If anyone completed at least 30 classes in 70 days, they could win a t-shirt. If you completed 70 days, you received a FREE MONTH OF YOGA.

ANN CRUSHED IT WITH 81 CLASSES IN 70 DAYS.

We wanted to introduce you to this amazing woman and show you how she was able to complete 81 classes. Our intern, Ethan, had the opportunity to interview Ann last week. Here is what she had to say:

Q: How long have you been doing yoga?

A: I started it about 30 years ago but really got back to it when I moved to Ames, then I joined Ignite about when Ignite started the 70 Day Challenge.

Q: So what made you decide to do the 70 Day Challenge?

A: Just to see if I could do it. I have never really done something like that before. There was curiosity. Hmm, I wonder what would happen to my body after 70 days of doing yoga. And of course it was wonderful. It makes you want to keep going and going.

Q: So what were some of those effects on your body that you noticed?

A: Oh, I am way more flexible. The poses that I used to kind of struggle with or I was always stiff with, like …oh wow, I can do those now. I usually come the 5:30am class and it’s really quite nice to wake up and move and then go to work. It feels great to do that.

Q: What were some of the biggest challenges completing the 70 Day Challenge?

A: Well, getting up every day. Although I tried to make it easy by having my clothes laid out so I didn’t have to make any decisions that early in the morning. Making up the time I was away on the weekends. I was really conscientious and I really wanted to do this so I took 2 classes a day sometimes. And you know the other thing... is being kind to my body when parts of my body wouldn’t tolerate certain exercises on a daily basis. So it’s backing off when I needed to back off

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE! - PLEASE HYDRATE OHHH

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE! - PLEASE HYDRATE

OHHH EEEE, the temps are rising. And so is the humidity. But classes at Ignite Yoga are still amazing! We love practicing in the summertime because the juicy sweat not only detoxifies our bodies, but boosts our immune system. OH YEAH, SWEAT WE LOVE YOU! And... It almost feels cooler in the practice room, too. But you won’t feel well if you are not properly hydrated.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO STAY HYDRATED YOU ASK?

• Start the day by making note of your urine color -respond as necessary.
• Consider consuming early in the morning two tall glasses of water (24 ounces before coffee and
• or tea).
• Proceed with your daily healthy dietary pattern.
• One to two hours before class consider consuming two tall glasses of water (24 ounces).
• Bring water to class!!!!!!!!
• Immediately after class consider consuming two tall glasses of water (24 ounces).
• Throughout the day and evening be mindful of your urine color and make adjustments to your hydration practice as necessary

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?

• Open the outside doors to help bring in fresh air
• Refrain from bringing extra humidity by not using humidifiers
• Keep the temps lower on the ceiling panels
• Make sure you are feeling well by observing your behaviors
